Share by Code

The idea that brought Share by Code to life

Before Share by Code, I worked as a customer service representative at a theme park. One of the services there was a photo booth where visitors could have a picture from their experience printed as a keepsake.

Sometimes, visitors wanted a digital copy too. We could print their photo, but we did not have a dedicated email address or a phone number connected to WhatsApp that we could use to send it to them. The picture was right there, and still there was no simple way to get it onto their phone.

That is when the idea came to me: what if we could upload the photo online for free, then simply tell the visitor a short code? They could enter that code on their own phone and download their picture themselves. No account, no exchange of contact details, and no complicated process.

A simpler, more considerate way to share

Asking someone for their email address or phone number can feel like a small request, but people may hesitate. They might wonder whether their details will be used for advertising or added to a mailing list. A visitor should not have to share personal information just to receive a photo they asked for.

Share by Code is built around that simple thought: give businesses a practical way to share what a visitor needs, while giving visitors a way to receive it without handing over an email address or phone number. Upload a file, get a temporary code, and share the code in person.

What began as a way to send a theme park photo has grown into a simple tool for sharing files and messages when you do not want to exchange contact details. I hope it makes those little moments of sharing a bit easier for everyone.
